Abused Oak Bowl

This bowl was made from a block of oak that I had found in an old garage that was being used for propping up an old vehicle.  The wood was extremely dry and had been avenged by age and some decay.  It proved to be hard to turn on the lathe. The holes and breaks created its own character in the final form. This piece measures 11 inches across and 3 1/2 inches tall. Even though it had proven its strength in its previous life, there are edges that are very fragile on this piece.  I hope it enjoys a good easy life as art.
